Oh the fall. How I have missed you!!

Welp, it's that awesome time of year again! Zee fall harvest is finally upon us and I, for one, am thrilled! I get sick in the heat of summer, the cold in winter just plain sucks and spring is nice until the bugs swarm you like a bog down south so fall is definatly my favorite season of choice!
My sister in law Shayna is helping me make my very first Halloween costume this year along with Aarons. I'm gonna be Sally-The Nightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellingtons love interest and Scott is(of course!) going to be Jack. Aaron, despite my fear of 8 legged creatures, wants to be a SPIDER!!!!! I was completely floored when he said that. But, I've been trying to look at them with a better perspective and only kill them once I look at them for about 10 seconds to try to not be so scared of such a small thing. Nonetheless I haven't won that battle yet but I am still letting Aaron be one for Halloween. We bought some of the items to make a cute spider costume so I think I'll be okay for one night:) Will says he wants to be Bumblebee transformer again but we want him to be a Lightening McQueen guy so i'm gonna try and see what I can scrounge up for that. I've never made my own costume before so I'm super excited about it! Feeling a Suzy homemaker and what not:))
My other reason for loving Autumn is my birthday. I'll be 27 this year and I am trying to not be like so many people out there who hate getting older. Of course, your body doesn't work and/or probably look as good as it did when you were younger but we all knew it would happen so I'm trying to see the glass has half full as I age...hopefully gracefully:)) I told Scott all I wanted for my birthday was to have a clean(er) house so I can feel the Spirit more abundantly when in it. There's nothing more amazing than being able to come home after a long day of work and feeling welcomed by a delightful Scentsy warmer burning your fav fragrance and the dishes done, the floors cleaned and just relaxing a bit before going about the rest of the day.
As a member of the church I am so grateful for knowing who I really am(daughter of God-holla!:)) and that I have the opportunity to partake of the blessings of Heaven if I want them. Which means, doing the 'seminary things.' Reading your scriptures. Saying your prayers. Loving one another as He does. It still shocks me how much love I feel and inspiration for my own life whenever I do these things. I don't mean to make this a preachy blog but for those of you who are having a rough go at life-remember WHO YOU ARE! A child of God and as such, amazing:) Keep your chin up and I promise to do my best too:)
Mmkay I will post pics soon of the funnest ahead! Love all you guys!

Valentines Day Surprise!

It's two days away from Valentines Day and I can't wait till Scott's present gets here!!! Every year, Scott and I switch places as to whom is in charge of Vday(surprises and such) and this was my year and I kept getting 'brain farts.' Nothing was coming to me until I thought about my loverly friend Shauna(noted from the last blog) told me about digital scrapbooking and it peeked my interest. A couple of days later, as I was searching for Valentines presents and came across a website- www.mixbook.com where you can make calendars, scrapbooks and.....wait for it......digital memory books!! It's a little pricer than some of the other websites but I looked on those and they just didn't have as many options in making the books as I would have liked. I'm hoping it will get here either today or Monday in time for Vday. I'm just sooooo excited to see how Scott will like it!
PS-The pic is of Scott and I on our honeymoon...many moons ago:)

It's digital scrapbookin time!

So I'm purdy excited to do some scrap-booking!!! I always hated doing it with paper so I never really got into it. I do, however, love making cards by hand. Tis alot of fun and calms me down a bit when I'm feeling stressed out. My bestie from before time, Shauna(holla!!!) has shown me a great site to use. I'll be using www.scrapbookingez.com and can't wait to get started!!!
Welp, that's all I really had today so have a good one!!

Pennsylvania

Dear my beloved friends of the blogging community-
As I always say, I'm sorry I don't update my bloggy blog more often!! I do love you guys and love to read your blogs! Forgive me my lovelies! Okay, with that said, here is the best thing that Scott has ever surprised me with and I'm forever in his debt...
I was born in Doylestown, PA. As a kid, we lived there till I was five and we moved around quite a bit all over the Midwest. But we did visit the family every 4-5 years when we could. When I married Scott, we moved about 3 times in our first year of marriage. We finally ended up in Champaign Ill and still had many financial issues for three years. We knew that we needed a new start and so, we moved in with his parents. They're so wonderful and we've had a few rough times with them but overall, it's been a pretty good experience. Scott doesn't apply for loans anymore because we don't want to go into debt too much with school so he now just goes for the grants. With the last loan we did get, he did something that blessed me greatly.
The last time I saw my extended family was when I was 18. It had been 8 years and I wished they could meet my awesome hubster and 2 baby boys(who aren't actual babies anymore but they will always be that way in my heart:)) With my CNA job, we all have to work a holiday, whether it be Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve or Christmas day and New Years Eve. I tried asking if it would be possible that I could have both Christmas Eve and Christmas day off but, to my dismay, I was let down. But, I figured maybe if we save up enough, we could go in the summer.
Scott, with is brilliant mind, had an idea. He actually went and talked to my boss, asking her if there was any way I could have those days off. He wanted to surprise me and told her how long it had been since I saw my family. And do you know what she said?!?!?!
" You know what? I'll have one of the college girls fill her in. Just make sure it's a surprise okay?"
So, it was my birthday and my buddies came to just chillax and eat some yummy cake. I was totally oblivious to the fact that Scott and my bro-in-law Tim were finding the cheapest airline tickets online to get to PA.
As I sat visiting with my buds, Scott came over and handed me a card. It smelled of fresh permanent marker and I laughed cuz I figured he just forgot to write in it(he's never been prepared with cards). I opened and said thank you and gave him a lil crap for just writing it when he said "Look inside." I figured there was jewelry or something in it but it was a lil note. I opened it and had to re-read what it said..."You're going to Pennsylvania for Christmas." I started bawling and asked how he did it. He told me and I think I hugged him so hard I gave his back a lil crack. My husband and kids were finally able to meet my family and I can finally say I love you to all of them.
Most of you have seen my pics on Facebook but I'll repost some of them for my blogger buddies how haven't. Miracles do happen. And when they do, never forget them and the powers that made them happen.

Excersising my butt off(literally)!

I have tried and failed at working off my baby weight. I am sad to report that, whilest being preggers, I gained 50 lbs with Aaron and William and after they were born, lost some and gained about 20 more lbs back. Seriously, I digust myself with how big I am. Sooo, for about 5 months or so, I have been trying different things when, about a month ago, I discovered a sweet lil treat on webmd.com. You can get a personal diet and excersise weight loss goal-designed just for you! It was an eye opener for me because it said if I wanted to get back to my 190 lb body like in high school in 3 months, all I would have to do is(of course) eat healthy and work out for 3 days or more a week, as long as it was cardio or pilates. I am challenging myself to it and found this Biggest Loser DVD and thought-"If people bigger than me can lose 50, 80, or even 100 lbs or more, so can I!!!" I worked out today, last Moday, Saturday and Friday. I skipped Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday cuz I had a nasty migraine and am working on getting out a head cold from me body. But I can't wait to see how well this one works out for me!! I can feel my body getting stronger evey time I work out....rock on!!!
Anywhooooo-this is the goal-lose weight and feel great! Not to mention look hot as well:)
Luvs!

Ohhhh yes..it's offically school time!

I know it's not Autumn quite yet but I thought I'd celebrate the new awesome cooler weather anyways with a new Autumn background! Today, it only was as hot as 73 degrees!!! It was loverly to say the least. Did I mention the slight breeze and clear blue skies?!?!? *Ahhhhh...

Anywhoooo-college life is back on track for Scott and I. Since our amazing babysitter is in college herself, we needed a better plan to take care of our offspring. So we came up with this idea...(and we hope it works!) Scott will be going to school Monday, Wednesday and Friday whilest I go to school Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while working Tuesday and Thursday nights and every other weekend. We'll each be watching them on our off days so so far, so good and I think this just might work! We even have a new venture in life-Aaron is in preschool!!! He'll be going Tuesday-Friday from 9-2pm. He is so excited! His first day was supposed to be this last Tuesday but due to the damage of the flood we had earlier this summer, they are putting in new carpeting in their building. Hopefully, Aaron can enjoy going to Preschool next week.
Here's the bloggy blog for now. Tootles till next time! (Heeeey-I new phrase! lol)

I really to update this bad boy more often...:)

Old Stuff:

Scott and I are both going to school right now-Scott is going into psychology and I'm going into education/music.
We are still living in his parents basement and probably will be for awhile.... (blarg):/
Aaron is 4 now(wow! Still can't believe that one) and Will is 2(that one either!) While me and the hubsters are in school, we have a great nanny who watches them for us until we come home in the afternoon.
I'm still working at the nursing home and even though I get REALLY tired after work, I wouldn't trade helping the residents for anything!

And....

New stuff....

My branch called me as the new Camp director!!!!! Oh the craziness of camp. I'm uber excited and scared all at once cuz I really am a princess when it comes to where I sleep but I'm doing it for the youth!
My parents and all but one of my brothers(Jared) moved to PA this past March where my dad finally was able to snag a great job. I'm so happy for them but my selfish side misses being only 2 1/2 hours away from them. (sigh) But my grandma isn't doing so hot and now they are 2 1/2 hours away from her so that gives me great comfort, knowing they are out there helping my gram gram.

I hope everyone has a great week and know you are loved by me <3>

"You've got me begging you for mercy...."

I am soooooo sick of being sick and I'm sure so is everyone else!!! I mean look, I put 3 exclamation points at the end of that sentence~it's a pretty big deal. I thought I was over the cough and cold crap but apparently, this morning, it all came back. Not as bad as the first time, thank goodness but I'm still hoping that this one will end sooner than 3 weeks. I don't think I've ever been sick for more than 2 days let alone 3 weeks!! This is one nasty bug. Anywho-my boys(Scott included) are all sick too. I'm praying for a miracle b4 Thanksgiving hits because we're going down to Florida with Scotts fam to celebrate the holiday! I'm what you call a homebody. I'm not one of those people that has to travel around the world to feel like they've accomplished something-I'm content with just being in the states or home for that matter! But, I'm REALLY excited to go to Florida!!! We're hoping for nice weather too so that all the kiddos(5 kids under 4) won't be driving us crazy the whole time-lol. But, I'd also like to be sick free too and, hopefully, not get another virus down there. So, fingers crossed and heads bowed, I hope this illness doesn't stick around!! Oh yes, I so made that rhyme up right there!!! te he he

Halloween and celebrating fall!

Hello everyone!
I have been crazy busy and just haven't had the time to write a blog until today. Sorry for the late-ness!
Anywho-Halloween was great this year. Aaron and Will were able to go to 2 trunk or treats, go trick or treating and a Halloween party for kids and new couples alike! The picture to the left is my nephew Sanders(scuba diver), my niece Jenna(a cute lil red fish) and Super Mouse Aaron and clownie William. Aaron really enjoyed being super mouse. We tried to tell him it was Mighty Mouse but, like most 3 year olds, he 'knew' that his name was super mouse. lol Anyways, Will was a clown for the most part but on Halloween he wanted to be superman. The clown outfit was orginally for Aaron but it barely fit Will so we went with Will wearing it. And, of course, My Scott Lee looked great in his multi-colored fro and funny nose:)
We all had a great Halloween this year so I'm happy. We took some pictures in the leaves the day of Halloween and they turned out pretty good. I've posted most of them on my facebook so you can check em out there. I just love fall.
For Thanksgiving, most of Scotts family are going to Florida and so are we! I'll be working my tail off so we can have enough for the trip. I've never been to Disney world or land so this is a first for me!!!
I hope everyone had a great holiday and we'll talk to ya lata!
Love Leah

My Shepard Will Supply My Need

It's been a little while since I wrote last. So many changes in life had made it a last priority to write a blog but today, I feel inspired to write and share how I feel, even if no one reads it.
We weren't able to go to church today because I don't feel well. My, ahem.... 'aunt' came to visit and she makes me feel awful for the 1st few days. But, even though I wasn't able to attend church, I felt inspired. Not by a talk but by music. Music has always been a comfort and strength in my life and today proves it to me. I decided to put on The Mormon Tabernacle choir or MoTab has I affectionately call them on to help me feel the Spirit more throughout my day. I put on one of my favorites by them, My Shepard Will Supply My Need and I felt overcome by emotions of joy and gratitude. Even though my lil family has to live with my husbands parents(who are wonderful!) and go to school while trying to work and take care of the kids and study for school, I know I've been blessed. So many people think that it's what you have, possession wise, that makes you happy but I believe it's so much more than that. It's knowing your Savior loves you, through it all, good and bad. Counting your blessings through even the worst of times and you'll see that what I am saying is true.
I wanted to post the song that helps me know how loved I am with you. I hope it helps you feel the same way I do whenever I hear it. I also have it playing when you go to my blog. Have a great week everyone!

My Shepard Will Supply My Need
My Shepard will supply my need,
Jehovah is His name.
In pastures fresh He makes me feed,
Beside the living stream.
He brings my wandering spirit back,
When I forsake His ways.
And leads me for His mercy's sake,
In paths of truth and grace.
When I walk through the shades of death,
Thy presence is my stay.
One word of thy supporting breath,
Drives all my fears away.

Thy hand in sight of all my foes,
Doth still my table spread.
My cup with blessings overflows,
Thine oil anoints my head.

The sure provisions of my God,
Attend me all my days.
O may Thy house be my abode,
And all my work be praise.

There would I find a settled rest,
While others go and come.
No more a stranger nor a guest,
But like a child at home.

My Shepard will supply my need.

Happy Mother's Day to every woman!!

Today is Mothers Day-one of MY particular favorites! I've been a lil sickish and couldn't make it to church because of it. My gut told told me to go to the doctors cuz something didn't feel right. So, I went and low and behold, I have 3, not 1 or 2 but 3 infections my body is trying to fight off!!! I have an ear infection in my left ear, a sinus infection and I think strep. Yeeah-crazy!!! I'm on some strong antibiotics to say the least:) So, hopefully within a day or two, things will seem a bit better and I won't be contagious or anything.
As you all probably already know, we're moving to Iowa in June. Scott and I have decided that Scott can't be the only one working until he gets his degree so I'll be going to school so I can get a good job and support Scott and the kids while he gets his degree finished. I think I may either go for a dental hygienist or a pharmacist. I'm thinking pharmacist but I need to see how long it would take to get my degree and what not. So-we'll be at Scotts folks place for a time so they can help us out with our kids. I'm really going to miss the Rantoul branch. I'm in the YW's and just love those girls as though they were my own. It's amazing how attached you get and so quickly too!! I'm also gonna miss all the wonderful friends I made out here. You guys are so great and hopefully we can visit often so we can still have our fun friend nights and what not!!:)
I hope every woman had a wonderful mothers day today, regardless if you're a mother or not. If you take care of a child or children, you're helping raise them too!!!

March 1, 2009

I don't think I've written a blog just dedicated to my kids so this one might get a lil mushy-just a warning! :)
It's true-I'm obsessed with my kids. I can't help it! They make my life so much more meaningful and happy. I feel I'm one of those people that if I didn't have kids, I couldn't grow as much as I have. Now, granted, people can still grow without raising children but for me, I think I would be sooo much more selfish and unfeeling it's not even funny. Allrightie-a lil more on the kiddies now...
Aaron has been saying sentences and they make sense!!! His cutest one so far is this: he comes up to me and puts his head on my lap and says "mommy I miss you!" It makes my heart melt that I can't help but hug him back and say how much I miss him too-even if he has been with me all day. I think he says it when he feels that he's not getting enough attention. That's fine by me cuz sometimes I need a reminder.
Mr. Will is started to say his first words. Today he said please-not perfectly mind you but he said it none the less! He's also really into being just like his big brother. It's so cute to watch him just follow after Aaron, trying to mimic everything he does. His lil shadow:) Not that he doesn't have his own lil style. He gets so focused on some of his toys when he's playing that he completely ignores everything and everyone else in the room. Pretty sure if the house was falling on us, he'd still want to just play with his Lego's:).
Any who-that's my lil blurb on the kids. Hope everyone has a great week!

Laziness and other topics

I have to confess something....I haven't been feeding my kiddlings at the dinner table! I know I should but I dunno, I became super lazy mom and just fed them whatever I was eating:(
I know better so today, for the first time in a LONG time, I cleared the table and let the boys feed themselves. Phew! Am I glad to get that off my chest!

On another note. I need some creative ideas for V-Day. Every year, Scott and I switch off who gets to surprise the other and this year is my year. We have a Gold and Green Ball at our church that night so there's that. I was thinking I could take out our fondue thinger and get some pretzels and bananas and strawberries and just sit and eat yummy chocolaty goodness. But other than that, I've got nothing. I already did a "heart attack" for him and the follow the clues thing. If any of you guys have any good and cheap suggestions, that would be lovely.

Lastly, my mom and myself are setting a goal to lose 20lbs by August(my cousins wedding). Problem is-I do it but then, I just lose that exercise drive. I really want to start running but it's still freezing out and I don't have anyone close enough to watch the boys while I do it. Right now we're doing an exercise DVD which I like alot and Scott and I are doing the ab lounge chair(which feels great by the way!!) but what can I do to help motivate myself? I've put up a calendar to "sticker" the days I exercise but that's about it. Help!!!

Thanks for reading and have a loverly day!!:)

January 17, 2009

Nevermind...

I was wrong. Will threw up everywhere at our friends wedding reception and all over Scott and I believe Scott is just starting to feel the symptoms. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When will this end? Seriously.....

I hate bugs, espically stomach bugs

Scott and I have been pretty blessed to have 2 lil healthy boys. Well, fairly healthy but all in all, healthy. But this past Monday, Will had thrown up. Not once, not twice, 12 times!!!!!!!!!!!! No joke. We took him to the ER cuz we were scared that he was dehydrated but after waiting for 2 1/2 hours in the waiting room(ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!), he was looking better and we could do what those doctors could've done-just give him pedialyte and let him rest. Well, the next day, I gave him Gatorade(works just as well as pedialtye in my opinion) and it looked as though he was going to keep it down so I took a chance and gave him crackers. Up it all went a couple of times about an hour later. My poor lil Will couldn't really eat anything normal until today. Yeah, he's been throwing up this entire week. Talk about being grateful to have my own washer and dryer!!! But yesterday, I knew exactly how he felt. I was so sick. I couldn't be away from the bathroom for more than a couple of minutes. Aaron had also thrown up twice in the car on the way home from taking Scott to school that morning. It was miserable. I called Scott and told him what was going on and asked him if he could call one of our friends to pick him up(he can't drive till April 10th cuz of his epilepsy)so he could come home. Our good buddy Noah came and picked him up and even took him to the store so Scott could get me and the boys some Gatorade and crackers and ginger ale. I was SO glad to have Scott home. There was NO WAY I could've taken care of the boys by myself anymore. Luckily, Aaron hasn't thrown up since yesterday and seems fine. I had asked Scott to give me a blessing and sure enough, the Lord heard my prayers and I am almost 100% normal today. How blessed we are to have such an understanding Heavenly Father who knows that if we don't feel the bad, we can't feel the good either.
I hope everyone is feeling great and if not-I'll be praying for you!

I'm still here, I promise!!

So I've been a slacker when it comes to my blog-I haven't written since last year(ba-dum-dum-ching!!)
We had a spectacular Christmas this past year. We went to not only Iowa to see my wonderful in-laws but we went up to WI to see my family(excluding my older brother Aaron-he's still in MN). I think it's my favorite Christmas so far. My boys LOVED playing with their cousins-Sanders and Jenna, spending time with gram and papa Christensen(or "C" for short!) and having fun with uncle Tim and aunt Shayna. Scott and I really enjoyed seeing all of them. Dave, my father in law, even got me to play their family's favorite card game-sheepshead-which I said I would never play just cuz I like to be different-so high school!!:) Scott, Tim, Shayna and myself played Sorry and because we were all so tired, it was the funniest game ever!!!!:) I missed seeing the rest of my in-laws but we hope to see them sometime this upcoming year.

In WI, Aaron and Will had a blast with "the uncles." That's what Aaron calls them cuz he can't remember all of their names:). Seth took a TON of pictures but I'll have to post them later cuz they're only on Scott's laptop. I really missed them. For me, it just isn't Christmas without hearing my brothers in the background going crazy wild and my folks trying to calm them down....I know-it's lovely, isn't it?!?:) I think that may be the reason why I want as many kids as I can-background noise!!! But that's a whole other story.
Anyways-Christmas was grand and here are some of the pictures of it-I'll post again with more pictures-have a great day!!

Goin sledding with the uncles!

We so crazy!!
Nothing like being a family:)

"Here comes Santa Clause, here comes Santa Clause.."

Saturday night we had our branch Christmas party! Scott helped by making the ham(soooo good too!) and I helped decorate. This way, we don't feel like slackers and just show up for the food:). Everything went great-good turn out, great food and most of all-Mr. and Mrs. Clause came to see the kiddies! It was the first time Aaron and Will were able to sit on Santa's lap. The Clauses were played by a wonderful couple from Champaign 1st ward and wow-they really looked the part!!!
Aaron was hilairous to watch when it was his turn to sit on Santa's lap. It was like he was just talkin business with him!
Santa: "Aaron-have you been a good lil boy this year?"
Aaron: Yeah-bun!(he was eating a bun while chatting it up)
Santa: "What do you want for Christmas?"
Aaron: "ummm....bun. Santa!"
Santa: "Yes?"
Aaron: Uhh...bun!"
Lol-so funny!
William, on the other hand, was quite scared of the man in red until he gave him some candy. It was all good then. I was able to take pictures of them with Santa. I will be forever grateful for digital cameras and they're amazingness:).
Aaron not really sure what to say to this guy yet....(notice the bun in his hand!:))
Allright-now we're talkin!
Ready to get off now....
Oh no-Will's never met Santa before...dun dun DUN!! Cry fest-here we come
Hey! There's candy in this bag...(I think Santa's just happy he stopped crying:))
I think next year will be better:)

Our first Christmas tree!!!

Yesterday we were able to put up and decorate our first real Christmas tree! Scott's friend from work gave it to us for free-so great to not have to spend alot this year on just a tree:). It's only about 4 feet tall but I don't mind and neither does Scott and don't think the boys care either way:). Aaron and Will had fun helping put up the ornaments and dancing to Christmas music while we "worked." I video taped it so we could watch this special time for as long as we want forever:)! It was so neat to watch the kids faces as we lit up the tree and made it look festive. I'm so grateful for them and the joy they bring not only to the holidays but everyday of the year.

Scott showing Aaron how to put up an ornament on the tree Will really just wants to touch it....
Aaron loves the tree. He especially likes the ornament uncle Nathan gave to us awhile back!
All done-love it
